MSBR’s 28th Annual Gala

The MSBR Gala is an evening of celebration for our collective talents and accomplishments to support STEM—a wonderful opportunity to network and socialize with your colleagues and guests. Evening activities include a welcome reception, silent auction & raffle, plated dinner, distinguished guest remarks, and STEM testimonial and awards! This year’s Gala, held on Friday, May 2, will be at the Bethesda Marriott.

MSBR 28th Annual Gala Information

Evening activities include a welcome reception, silent auction & raffle, plated dinner, distinguished guest remarks, and STEM testimonial and awards! The ticket price includes two drinks (per ticket), selection of hot hors d’ouevres, plated dinner including salad, rolls & butter, entrée selection (citrus brined grilled chicken breast, crispy skin salmon, charred cauliflower steak), dessert station, coffee and tea.

Entertainment: Live music by The Jazz Experience.
Dress: Cocktail attire


Featured Guest Speaker: Dr. Elizabeth “Zibi” Turtle

Dr. Elizabeth “Zibi” Turtle is a planetary scientist at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, specializing in spacecraft-based exploration of the solar system. Her research combines remote sensing observations with numerical geophysical modeling to investigate geological structures and what they reveal about the surfaces and interiors of planetary bodies. 

Her work explores a wide range of processes, including impact cratering and tectonics on both terrestrial planets and the icy satellites of the outer solar system, mountain formation on Io, ice-rich permafrost creep on Mars, and the complex dynamics of Titan’s lakes.

Dr. Turtle serves as the principal investigator for both the Dragonfly mission to Titan and the Europa Imaging System on NASA’s Europa Clipper mission. She is also an associate on the Cassini Imaging Science Subsystem and RADAR teams, and a co-investigator on the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera. 

She holds a B.S. in Physics from MIT and a Ph.D. in Planetary Sciences from the University of Arizona.

Hotel Information

The Bethesda Marriott has set aside a block of rooms at 139.00 USD for the night of the Gala if you wish to stay after the event. There is complimentary self-parking for guests attending the event and hotel guests reserved within our MSBR block. The reservation cut-off date is April 11, 2025.

Event Parking: When you arrive to the hotel, please enter through any of the parking gates. It will prompt you to grab a ticket and then you can park anywhere in the hotel lot. The best place to enter the hotel will be the main entrance where there will be directional signage to the event. We will have validated parking vouchers that will be handed to you. When you are ready to exit the parking gates, please scan the validated ticket and the gates will open.

The MSBR Silent Auction and Raffle will benefit the our STEM Outreach Program. Raffle tickets will be sold the night of the Gala. We are accepting donations for the auction and raffle. Please use the form below to donate an item for the Silent Auction.
