STEM Success: Robotics News from Team 1727 REX

Below is an update from Team 1727 REX, one of our 2024 STEM grant recipients: 

One of the goals of Team 1727, otherwise known as REX from Dulaney High School in Timonium, MD, is to expand STEM education and opportunity across Baltimore County. They pilot both the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) and VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) programs.

Recently, Team 1727 REX wrapped up a thrilling season with strong performances across all competitions. At the Pasadena CHS District Event, they ranked 2nd out of 36 teams with a 10-1-1 record, earning both the District Event Finalist Award and the Industrial Design Award, sponsored by General Motors. 

At the Severn CHS District Event, they followed up with a 9-3-0 record and placed 3rd out of 35 teams, again taking home the District Event Finalist Award along with the Excellence in Engineering Award. 

At the FIRST Chesapeake District Championship, they continued to impress by placing 3rd out of 54 teams and earning the Quality Award. Additionally celebrating the recognition of their very own Margaret Strong with the Volunteer of the Year Award.

Their season concluded with an incredible opportunity to compete at the 2025 FIRST Championship in Houston, where they proudly represented their team placing 21st out of 76 teams and showcased SUBZERO’s capabilities in the Archimedes Division.
